Tuition Cost: $295.00 each.

Course Length: Ten Hours. If this is your first NRA instructor course then you need the Basic Instructor Training class (a pre-requisite) which is taught on the Friday evening prior to this class from 4p.m. to 10 p.m., then the total time will be 16 hours, classroom and non-shooting range time and you will add $95 to cover the cost for the Basic Instructor Training class being taught on Friday evening, just prior.

Course Goals: To develop NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officers who posses the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations and train Certified Range Safety Officers.

Lesson 1–  Introduction to the NRA Chief  Range Safety Officer Course (up to One Hour)

Lesson 2- Teaching the Role of the NRA Range Safety Officer and Range Standard Operating Procedures  (up to One Hour)

Lesson 3- Teaching Range Inspection and Range Rules (up to Two Hours)

Lesson 4- Teaching Range Safety Briefing (up to Two Hours)

Lesson 5- Teaching Emergency Procedures (up to Two Hours)

Lesson 6- Teaching Firearm Stoppages and Malfunctions (up to Three Hours)

Lesson 7- Test and Review (up to Two Hours)

What to Bring: A safe attitude; a desire for additional safety, a desire to teach, and firearm knowledge and skills.  Snacks and drinks if you wish.  Your current NRA training certificates.  A copy of this course syllabus.

What we will provide: NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Course Student Study Guide; NRA Range Safety Officer Student packet, Various Brochures; Various rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers, eye and ear protection; Handbooks; Writing materials; various learning and training aids; multiple handouts; dummy ammunition (snap-caps); Enthusiasm; a safe learning environment.  NRA “Chief Range Safety Officer Certificate”.

Notes: There is no shooting, dry firing, or ownership program associated with this course. Safety only.  Pre-registration is required so that we will have sufficient materials on hand for all participants.  We need two weeks lead time to insure delivery from the NRA resource center.

Prerequisites:

1)  You must currently be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer

2) Pre-course Questionnaire. This will be sent to you upon your registration.

3) $35.00 non-refundable deposit. Add $35 if you need to take the BIT course (must have this course within the past 36 months) Friday evening for a total of $70.  Deposits will be deducted from total fee when you attend class-this is required to partially cover the NRA materials and other materials I provide). All deposits must be received no later than close of business on 30 June 2017

If you are not already an NRA Certified Instructor the NRA requires you to first attend and complete the 6 hour NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT), utilizing the NRA Trainer’s Guide. During this portion, candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures, basic public speaking skills, training methodology, use of a training team and training aids, organizing a course, building a budget, and finally preparing to teach. The BIT will be held on Friday 14 July at our training facility in Oak Ridge, TN from 4PM to 10PM. The cost for the BIT training is $95 and requires a $35 non-refundable deposit.

If you need the BIT course as well as the Pistol Instructor course, please send $35 deposit for the BIT course and the $35 deposit for the Instructor course for a total of $70. If you are already an NRA Instructor you need only send the $35 deposit required for the Chief Range Safety Officer class. The balance due on each class will be due when you check in upon arrival and may be paid in the form of cash, check or money order.  Please mail a check or money order for your deposit made payable to Austin Crow along with your contact information, i.e. your name, address, phone number and email address.  Please also include your Date of Birth and if you are a member of the NRA, your NRA membership number.
