Tennessee Armed Security Officer Re-Certification

 Course Cost: $100.00. Advance deposit required….$25.00 per student.

Course Goal: To teach the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to successfully meet the requirements of the State of Tennessee Private Protective Services Commission in order to receive your state Armed Guard card.

At the end of the course you will be expected to complete a 50 question written test and score a minimum of 70% to qualify. You will also be expected to qualify with your handgun and with your shotgun. Upon successful completion we will assist you in completing the paperwork required to apply for your armed guard card.

  • Lesson 1-  Parts of the firearms
  • Lesson 2-  Firearms Safety
  • Lesson 3-  Legal Limitations & Liability Issues with a firearm
  • Lesson 4-  Loading and Unloading Handling of a firearm
  • Lesson 5-  Ammunition
  • Lesson 6-  Maintenance
  • Lesson 7-  Basic Marksmanship
  • Lesson 8-  Drawing and Re-holstering
  • Lesson 9-  50 rnd. Handgun Qualification
  • Lesson 10- 15 rnd. Shotgun Qualification

Location: Austin’s Tennessee Firearms School, 154A Talmeda Rd., Oak Ridge TN.   

Schedule: Friday, from: 2:00 PM Friday and continuing Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

What to Bring: 

 

  • A safe attitude *
 

  • 100 rounds of appropriate ammunition for your handgun *

 

 

  • A cap or hat with a brim (baseball type is good) *

 

 

  • Notebook and pen or pencil *
 

  • Shotgun- pump action or semi automatic *
 

  •  Water for hydration *
  •  Handgun *
  •  10 rounds #8 shotgun target loads & 5 rounds #00 Buckshot *
  •  Bug spray and sunscreen if you choose
 

  • Gun belt and retention holster *
 

  •  Eye and ear protection *
 
  • 3 magazines or 3 speed loaders or 3 speed strips *

 

  •  Long trousers but otherwise dress for the weather *
 
  • Double magazine pouch or double speed loader pouch *

 

  •  Good sturdy shoes or boots as we will be shooting on an outdoor range *
 

 

You MUST have ALL of the above items that are marked with a-  * -to complete the course. If you come unprepared you will not be able to complete the course and will have to re-take the course at a later date.
